The 12 most costly Hata mistakes
Each one comes from real questions in Daus's DMs and comments. What happens, and how to avoid it.
- 01Lose the reward
Signing up without a code and remembering after 30 days
What happens
An affiliate code can only be entered at sign-up or within 30 days after. After that Hata won't allow it, so the 10% fee rebate is lost for that account for good.
How to avoid it
Open Daus's link so the code is filled in at sign-up. If you missed it, go to Profile → Rewards → Enter a code the same day.

- 02Lose money
Depositing from a spouse's or company bank account
What happens
Hata only accepts money from a bank account in your own name. Deposits from someone else's account are refunded with a RM0.50 charge, and Hata doesn't cover bank charges. Your money is stuck for days for nothing.
How to avoid it
Use FPX from a bank account whose name matches your Hata account name.

Using an eWallet for a big deposit
What happens
eWallets are capped at RM1,000 in a rolling 24 hours. Putting in RM5,000 via eWallet means waiting for days.
How to avoid it
For large amounts, use FPX (up to RM250,000). Keep eWallet for small amounts.

- 04Lose money
Buying a coin because it's trending on TikTok
What happens
A viral coin has usually already risen a lot before you hear of it. When the hype fades, the price can halve within days. Meme coins are the worst for this.
How to avoid it
Only buy a coin you can explain in one sentence why you hold it. If you can't, don't buy.

- 05Lose money
Staking SOL you plan to sell next month
What happens
Staked SOL can't be sold. After unstaking there's a deactivation period of several days. If the price drops during that time, you can only watch.
How to avoid it
Only stake SOL you truly plan to hold long-term. Don't lock money you might need soon.

- 06Lose the reward
Unstaking early out of panic
What happens
Unstaking before the lock ends forfeits all accrued rewards that haven't been paid. And unstaking doesn't protect you from the price, because SOL still has to wait out deactivation.
How to avoid it
Pick a lock you are sure you can sit through. If unsure, choose 14 days even though the service fee is higher.

- 07Lose money
Picking the cheapest network when sending crypto
What happens
Sender and receiver must use the same network. Send USDT on BEP20 to an address that only accepts ERC20 and the money is gone. Hata itself can't reverse it.
How to avoid it
Check which network the receiving wallet supports, pick the same one, and send a small test amount first.

- 08Lose money
Sending less than Hata's minimum deposit
What happens
Each coin has a minimum to arrive in Hata (for example 0.0002 BTC). Below that, it isn't credited automatically. You'd have to send more above the minimum and request a manual recovery.
How to avoid it
Check the minimum on the Receive screen in the app before sending.

- 09Scam risk
Trusting "Hata support" that calls or DMs you
What happens
Hata has no phone support. Scammers pose as Hata staff, ask for OTPs or tell you to move crypto to a "safe account". Crypto once sent can't be reversed.
How to avoid it
Contact Hata only via Contact Support in the app or the headset icon in the help centre. Block anyone who contacts you first.

- 10Scam risk
Sharing an OTP or 2FA code
What happens
OTPs and 2FA codes are the last lock on your account. Anyone with them can log in and send your crypto out.
How to avoid it
Never give those codes to anyone, including people claiming to be from Hata or Daus. If you never send crypto out, switch Send off under Profile → Security.

Thinking Hata Global is "Hata with more coins"
What happens
Hata Global is a separate Labuan platform for USD and USDT. Its wallet is separate, USD withdrawals go via SWIFT with bank charges, and you must apply yourself. The coins are almost the same as Hata Malaysia.
How to avoid it
If you don't need USDT or USD, Hata Malaysia is enough. Read the USDT section of the FAQ first.

- 12Lose money
Thinking "SC-registered" means you can't lose
What happens
SC registration means Hata is allowed to operate and is supervised. It doesn't guarantee crypto prices. Daus uses a registered exchange and is still at a loss.
How to avoid it
Put in only money you can bear to see halve. Keep your emergency savings elsewhere.
