Hata in 60 seconds

Four things everyone should know first

Registered with the SCOne of 5 legal exchanges.Explain

Hata Digital Sdn Bhd is on the Securities Commission's list of registered Digital Asset Exchanges. That means Hata may serve Malaysians and is supervised by the SC. Exchanges not on that list have no Malaysian legal protection.

Not a bankNo PIDM, no guarantee.Explain

You put in ringgit, buy crypto in MYR, and can sell and withdraw ringgit back to your bank. But Hata is not a bank: PIDM doesn't cover crypto, and nobody reimburses you if prices fall.

15 Shariah-badged coinsEndorsed by Amanie Advisors.Explain

Hata's platform structure is endorsed by Amanie Advisors, and 15 coins carry a Shariah badge in the app, including BTC, ETH and SOL. Other coins don't, so don't assume every crypto on Hata is Shariah-compliant.

Prices can fallMore than 50%. Daus is at a loss too.Explain

Crypto is very volatile. Bitcoin has halved within months before, and other coins fall harder. Daus's own Hata portfolio is still red. Put in only money you can bear to see halve.

Real proof

This is Daus's own Hata account

Daus has DCA'd Bitcoin and Solana at RM30 a day since late 2024. There's one big RM1,000-a-day plan Daus has paused, and it's the one losing most. These screenshots are from Daus's phone, dated.

Figures are from Daus's account on that date. Daus buys based on personal needs and is at a loss. This is not a recommendation; decide for yourself.

Honest take

Why Daus uses Hata, and what Daus does not like

What Daus likes

  • Registered with the SC with 15 Shariah-badged coins. That matters to Daus, who wants to sleep at night.
  • Auto-Invest from RM30 a day. Daus DCAs BTC and SOL without opening the app daily.
  • Withdrawals reach the bank in 0 to 12 hours, and DuitNow works.

What Daus does not like

  • The 0.40% taker and 1% Instant fees aren't the cheapest in the world. For larger amounts, Spot saves more.
  • SOL staking has a service fee of up to 35% of rewards, and unstaking takes days.
  • No USDT on Hata Malaysia. And Daus's own portfolio is still red.

Everyone's first questions

What is Hata?

Hata is a Malaysian crypto exchange run by Hata Digital Sdn Bhd. You deposit ringgit from your own bank, buy crypto in MYR, and can sell and withdraw ringgit back to your bank. Hata is not a bank and not a savings scheme.

Is Hata licensed, or is it a scam?

Hata Digital Sdn Bhd is on the Securities Commission's list of registered Digital Asset Exchanges (DAX). That means it is legally allowed to serve Malaysians. Being registered does not mean you cannot lose money: crypto prices can still fall.

Is Hata a bank? Is it covered by PIDM?

It is not a bank, and there is no PIDM cover. PIDM protects bank deposits, not crypto. If crypto prices fall, nobody reimburses you.

Is Hata Shariah-compliant?

Hata says its platform structure (buying and selling, wallet custody, fees, staking rewards) is endorsed by Amanie Advisors. In the app, 15 coins carry a Shariah badge. Other coins do not, so don't assume every crypto on Hata is Shariah-compliant.

Where do I enter code AF01JCMFAA?

The easiest way is to open Daus's link, which fills the code in at sign-up. If you miss it, you can still add it within 30 days of signing up: Profile → Rewards → Enter a code. After 30 days, Hata no longer allows it.

What do I get for using the code?

A 10% rebate on your own trading fees (Spot and Instant Buy/Sell), paid monthly and automatically into your Crypto Wallet. It isn't free cash. Maker trades with a 0% fee earn nothing, since there's no fee.
