Staking SOL on Hata, is it worth it?

How to stake and unstake SOL, the service fee for each lock period, activation and deactivation, rewards lost if you unstake early, and a net reward calculator.

3 minutes to set up · locked 14 to 90 days Checked 22 Sep 2026 Has video

Quick answer

  • Only SOL can be staked. Choose a lock of 14, 30, 60 or 90 days.
  • Hata takes a service fee from your rewards, from 35% (14 days) down to 15% (90 days).
  • If you unstake early, unpaid rewards are forfeited, and your SOL waits a few more days before it can be sold.

What you need

  • SOL in your crypto wallet (minimum 0.1 SOL)
  • SOL you really do want to hold for a long time

Read this first, before you look at the rates

Staking SOL is not a fixed deposit. The reward is an estimate, and Hata deducts a service fee from the reward: 35% if you lock for 14 days, 15% if you lock for 90 days. More importantly, the price of SOL itself can fall by more than the reward you earn. If you want to sell next month, do not stake.

On 22 Sep 2026, Daus’s Earn balance was RM0, which means Daus is not staking SOL right now. Daus DCAs into SOL, but holds it in a regular wallet.

The estimated rate Hata shows in the Earn tab already has this service fee taken out. That’s why longer locks look higher: their service fee is lower. Hata does not charge anything to stake or unstake on the blockchain.

Activation, lock, deactivation

  1. Activation: after you tap Stake, your SOL is sent to a validator. The app shows this takes Activation period after staking: 2 to 4 daysChecked 22 Sep 2026 · Source: Hata app (App Hata, Earn → Stake SOL → Product rules, 22 Sep 2026), and the estimated date appears before you confirm. There are no rewards during this period, and the stake cannot be cancelled.
  2. Lock period: starts from the activation date, not from the day you tap Stake. Example in the app on 22 Sep 2026: 90-day lock, activation 26 Sep, maturity 25 Dec. Rewards build up, and your SOL cannot be sold or sent.
  3. Maturity date: the lock period ends. If auto-subscribe is on, the next cycle starts without another activation.
  4. Deactivation: after you unstake, your SOL has to wait before it can be sold. Unstaking early: what happens

You can unstake at any time once activation is over. But:

When staking suits you, and when it does not

It suits you if you really do want to hold SOL for a long time, you will not need that SOL for a few months, and you understand that the reward is not guaranteed.

It does not suit you if you might want to sell soon, if you will panic when the price falls while your SOL is locked, or if you are hoping the reward will cover a price loss.

How much is the staking reward?

What is the staking service fee?

Hata takes a share of staking rewards: 35% on a 14-day lock, 30% for 30 days, 25% for 60 days and 15% for 90 days. There is no other fee to stake or unstake on the blockchain.

How long does unstaking take? Why so slow?

After unstaking there is a deactivation period set by the network, not by Hata. Hata's help centre says a few days to a few weeks; for SOL, the app shows an unstaking period of 2 to 4 days. No rewards are earned during that time.

Can I unstake early?

Yes, once the activation period is over. But all accrued rewards that haven't been paid out are forfeited. Rewards already paid to your wallet stay.

Is staking Shariah-compliant?

Hata's Shariah page says staking rewards follow the Ujrah principle, and the structure is endorsed by Amanie Advisors. SOL itself carries a Shariah badge. If unsure, ask a scholar or Shariah adviser you trust.
